Preventing work related arm injuries

When working, our upper strength is greatly needed, especially coming from the arms and hands. All kinds of work make use of limbs, that’s why people are careful enough to consult a doctor upon early signs of arm pain that may lead to several arm injuries.

Depending on your type of work, there are different types of arm injuries, some only affecting the upper arm, some the lower arm, or both. However, injuries are generally categorized into two: acute and chronic.

Acute injuries are those that occur suddenly and often results to a severe injury like injury from a fall, from a direct blow, or due to strong force. Different types of acute injuries include severe bruising, pulled muscles, broken or dislocated bones, and ruptured muscles.

Chronic injuries on the other hand are injuries that have been developing for some time due to factors. Chronic injuries usually happened due to repetitive activities that you subject your arms and hands to, causing strain to the overused limbs. Several types of chronic injuries include carpal tunnel syndrome, tendinitis, and tendinosis.

Preventing work related arm injuries involves being aware with your condition, recognizing early signs of a possible major injury and consulting your doctor as soon as possible. Remember too that don’t disregard any arm pain you may feel because it may lead to much worse upper arm injuries. If you can, take note of any pain that you feel and record so that later when you consult a doctor, you have written records on when and how it started and this would lead to an easier diagnosis.
